In patients living in endemic areas, regular treatment with VERMOX * 500 mg (3-4 times a year) can significantly reduce reinfection with a good level of clinical significance.
Indications:
- Treatment of intestinal worm infections caused by:
- Roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides)
- Hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus)
- Whipworms (Trichuris trichiura)
- Pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis)
- Other helminthic infections (as determined by a healthcare provider).
How It Works:
- Mebendazole: It works by inhibiting the worms’ ability to absorb glucose, disrupting their metabolism and preventing their growth. As a result, the parasites die and are naturally eliminated from the body through the gastrointestinal tract.
Dosage and Administration:
- Recommended Dose: One 500 mg tablet as a single dose, or as directed by a healthcare provider based on the type and severity of the infection.
- Administration:
- Take orally with or without food.
- The single-dose treatment typically resolves the infection, though follow-up may be required for certain types of worms.
Precautions:
- Not recommended for individuals with known hypersensitivity to Mebendazole or any of its components.
- Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disorders.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before using this medication.
- Consult a healthcare provider if symptoms persist or if reinfection occurs.
Side Effects:
- Common: Mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea.
- Rare: Allergic reactions, including rash, itching, or swelling.
- Serious: In very rare cases, liver toxicity may occur, particularly in individuals with pre-existing liver conditions.
Storage Instructions:
- Store at room temperature (20°C-25°C).
- Keep in its original packaging to protect from light and moisture.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Note: Always follow the healthcare provider’s prescribed dosage. Read the full package insert for further details and consult with a healthcare professional for personalized medical advice.
