ZENTEL ORAL SUSPENSION ALBENDAZOLE

Description

ZENTEL DUAL effective in the treatment of acute intestinal amoebiasis or amoebic dysentery caused by Entamoeba histolytica. ZENTEL DUAL is also effective in treating Giardiasis caused by Giardia intestinalis (lamblia). ZENTEL DUAL effective anthelmintic against nematodes and cestodes, indicated in the treatment of Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Strongyloides stercoralis. Necator americanus, Ancylostoma duodenale, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia saginata, Taenia solium, and Hymenolepis nana.

Indications:

• Helminthic (Worm) Infections:
  • Treats a variety of intestinal worm infestations including roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura), and tapeworms (Taenia spp.).
  • Albendazole effectively kills worms by inhibiting their ability to absorb glucose, leading to their starvation and expulsion from the intestines.
• Protozoal Infections:
  • Giardiasis caused by Giardia lamblia and other protozoal infections.
  • Albendazole works by preventing the growth and multiplication of protozoa, clearing the infection in the intestines.

How It Works:

• Albendazole (400 mg per mL): Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic that disrupts the metabolism of intestinal parasites, causing them to die and be expelled from the body. It is effective against both adult worms and their larvae. By inhibiting glucose absorption, Albendazole prevents the parasites from maintaining their energy requirements, leading to their eventual death.

Dosage and Administration:

• Recommended Dose:
  • A single 10 mL dose contains 400 mg of Albendazole, which is typically sufficient for the treatment of most intestinal parasitic infections.
  • The dose is based on the patient’s specific condition, so it is important to follow the healthcare provider’s instructions.
• Administration:
  • Shake well before use to ensure the suspension is properly mixed.
  • Administer the entire 10 mL dose orally using a dosing spoon or as directed by a healthcare provider.
  • The suspension can be taken with or without food.
