Description
Oral cholesterol-lowering agent.
Atorvastatin is indicated as a treatment for the following pathologies as an adjunct to diet:
• Primary prophylaxis of disorders of the cardiovascular system, in patients with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease (hypertension, diabetes, low HDL-C level, or with a family history of early coronary disease).
• Secondary prophylaxis of disorders of the cardiovascular system.
• Familial-homozygous hypercholesterolemia.
• Familial hyperlipoproteinemia type 3.
• Primary hypercholesterolemia (familial and non-familial heterozygous) and mixed dyslipidemia (Fredrickson types IIa and IIb).
• Hypertriglyceridemia.
