Description

Glimepiride is indicated to treat exclusively type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin dependent), in case blood glucose levels cannot be maintained at a healthy level due to physical exercise, diet and weight loss.

In case of not obtaining adequate metabolic control, it can be administered together with insulin and it can be combined with other oral hypoglycemic agents, not betacytotropics.

It should not be used for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus (for example, for the treatment of diabetics with a history of ketoacidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic coma).
