Absorption:

After oral administration, phentermine is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Distribution:

It is 17.5% bound to plasma proteins, reaches a maximum concentration peak at 3-4.4 hours, and its elimination half-life is approximately 20 hours.

Metabolism:

Its metabolization by the liver is extensive through hydroxylation and oxidation, mainly by CYP3A4.

Elimination:

The excretion of phentermine is mainly through the kidneys, eliminating 62-85% of the drug without change.

Pharmacodynamics:

Phentermine Hydrochloride is an anorectic with a sympathomimetic effect on the central nervous system, reducing appetite by stimulating the release of norepinephrine in the hypothalamus. Tolerance has been demonstrated with the use of drugs of this type.

IFA ACXION® should not be administered jointly or for 14 days after the administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors, as hypertensive crisis can result.
