Description
It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of varying severity, intensity and location, both acute and chronic, or chronically recurrent, caused by ampicillin-sensitive agents, such as:
• Septicemia, endocarditis and meningitis, mainly in Haemophilus influenzae, enterococci and Listeria sensitive to ampicillin, if necessary in combination with another suitable antibiotic.
• Respiratory tract infections.
• Bordetella pertussis (early treatment and prophylaxis) in childhood.
• Urinary tract infections (pyelonephritis).
• Infections in gynecology and obstetrics.
• Biliary tract infections.
• Bacterial intestinal infections caused by Salmonella, Shigella and E. coli.
• Sanitization of constant carriers of Salmonella typhi.
Serious infections, such as e.g. Septicaemia, endocarditis, meningitis, infections in gynaecology and obstetrics and the sanitation of constant carriers of Salmonella initially require parenteral administration. Subsequent oral treatment is possible with the appropriate form of administration in each case.
