Description
Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal action against a large number of Gram-positive and some Gram-negative microorganisms.
Cephalexin is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by the following strains: Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Corynebacterium diphteriae, Streptococcus viridians, Streptococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Proteus morganlla, Neigeellaeisseria gonisseria, Neigehoeaemonisseria gum coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae. Several strains of Haemophilus influenzae are susceptible.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is not usually susceptible to Cephalexin. The most common infections that can be managed when caused by microorganisms susceptible to Cephalexin are the following: Urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, middle ear, respiratory tract, gynecological, obstetric, bone, dental infections, syphilis and gonorrhea. It is convenient to carry out cultures and studies to determine the susceptibility of the microorganism to Cephalexin.
