Description
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes), particularly in overweight patients, whose management with diet and exercise does not produce adequate glycemic control.
• In adults (18 years and older), DABEX® XR can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin.
Reduction of diabetes-related complications has been shown in overweight adult type 2 diabetic patients, treated with immediate-release metformin hydrochloride as first-line treatment, after diet failure (see section Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and Restrictions of use during pregnancy and lactation).
Prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with prediabetes and at least one additional risk factor, in whom lifestyle modifications alone have not allowed adequate glycemic control to be achieved.
