Description

ULPAX® is indicated for the treatment of acid-peptic disorders such as: duodenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, hypersecretory pathological conditions including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. ULPAX® is also indicated in recurrent duodenal or gastric ulcers or those with poor response to H2 receptor antagonists.

Endoscopic studies have shown duodenal ulcer healing rates between 35% and 42% in 2 weeks and between 89% and 92% in 4 weeks with doses of 15 mg per day. In gastric ulcer, the healing rates observed are 65% in 4 weeks and 92% in 8 weeks with doses of 15 mg per day. Administered at a dose of 30 mg per day, healing rates are 58% at 4 weeks and 97% at 8 weeks. In ulcers associated with the use of NSAIDs, doses of 30 mg per day demonstrated healing of the lesions of 60% at 4 weeks and 79% at 8 weeks.

In gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) without esophageal erosion, doses of 15 mg daily for 8 weeks showed relief of symptoms (heartburn / heartburn) in 92% of patients. In erosive esophagitis (EE) with grade 2 to 4 mucosal injury, doses of 30 mg per day for 8 weeks showed a 95.4% wound healing rate.
