Description
ZENTEL DUAL effective in the treatment of acute intestinal amoebiasis or amoebic dysentery caused by Entamoeba histolytica. ZENTEL DUAL is also effective in treating Giardiasis caused by Giardia intestinalis (lamblia). ZENTEL DUAL effective anthelmintic against nematodes and cestodes, indicated in the treatment of Enterobius vermicularis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Strongyloides stercoralis. Necator americanus, Ancylostoma duodenale, Trichuris trichiura, Taenia saginata, Taenia solium, and Hymenolepis nana.
Indications:
- Helminthic Infections:
- Roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus), and whipworms (Trichuris trichiura).
- Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effective in treating a range of intestinal worms by inhibiting their ability to absorb glucose, leading to their death.
- Protozoal Infections:
- Giardiasis caused by Giardia lamblia and Amoebiasis caused by Entamoeba histolytica.
- Quinfamide is an antiprotozoal agent that targets these protozoa, disrupting their ability to reproduce and survive within the intestines.
How It Works:
- Albendazole (400 mg per 20 mL):
Albendazole is an anthelmintic that works by blocking the ability of intestinal parasites to absorb glucose. This effectively deprives them of energy, causing them to die. Albendazole is effective against a variety of intestinal helminths and works by targeting the adult worms, larvae, and eggs. - Quinfamide (200 mg per 20 mL):
Quinfamide is an antiprotozoal medication that specifically targets the intestinal protozoa like Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia. It interferes with their ability to replicate and survive in the intestines, effectively clearing the infection.
Dosage and Administration:
- Recommended Dose:
- A single 20 mL dose of the suspension, which provides 400 mg of Albendazole and 200 mg of Quinfamide.
- Administer as a single-dose treatment for the specific parasitic infection being addressed. The dose is typically based on the child’s weight and age as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
- Administration:
- Shake the bottle well before use to ensure the suspension is properly mixed.
- Administer the dose directly using the provided dosing spoon or as directed by the healthcare provider.
- The suspension can be taken with or without food.
- The banana flavor is designed to make it easier for children to accept the medicine.
Precautions:
- Not suitable for children with known hypersensitivity to Albendazole, Quinfamide, or any of the excipients in the formulation.
- Liver or kidney disease: Use with caution in children with compromised liver or kidney function.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare provider before use if the child is pregnant, breastfeeding, or if there is any concern about the child’s overall health condition.

Side Effects:
- Common Side Effects:
- Mild gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and temporary.
- Headache or dizziness may occur in some cases.
- Rare Side Effects:
- Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling.
- Liver toxicity (e.g., jaundice, dark urine, or abdominal discomfort) is very rare but should be monitored in cases of prolonged use or if the child has pre-existing liver conditions.
