Description
Pitavastatin is indicated for patients with primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia (including Fredrickson IIa, IIb and IV) and familial heterozygous hypercholesterolaemia as an adjunct to diet, when the response to diet and other non-pharmacological treatments is inadequate.
Pitavastatin is indicated for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia as an adjunct to diet and other lipid-lowering agents (eg, LDL apheresis).
Pitavastatin reduces total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein B (Apo B), and triglycerides (TG) when elevated, and increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
